Tapestries of the High Desert

The harsh winds of the high desert reveal strength and grace of the rooted scrub. The gnarled, windswept movement exhibited by each sage branch is inextricable from it's  rigid dryness; creating the illusion of stillness.

Natural forms are abstracted as cast shadows creep in the sun's path over arid sand and clay weaving tenuous rugs on the earth. These shadows create the framework for each piece.

Dry earth pigments are mixed with casein, sand and marble dust then laid onto linen or hand ground casein paint on cold pressed watercolor paper in this series entitled: “Tapestries of the High Desert".
